PennTAP Helps Mill Street Optimize Website for Optimal Profits

The Need

John Seeley, founder of Mill Street Caramel Corn, wanted to promote the superior-tasting popcorn that his company had created. He requested assistance for developing a website and the online marketing process.

The PennTAP Connection

PennTAP advisors make it their business to be aware of up-and-coming small businesses and organizations in their hometown locations. Cold calling is a great way to introduce the organization to PennTAP.

The Project

After meeting with John, the PennTAP advanced IT advisor contacted web developers and gave John choices. Once a developer was chosen and the website was created, the advisor connected John with the Penn State Online Google Marketing Challenge team. This team provided Mill Street with an online marketing plan that promoted the site.

The Outcome

A beautiful website was created, and the students developed an optimal set of Google Ad words and online marketing parameters, which the company has successfully scaled for online sales. Mill Street Caramel Corn has since purchased equipment to roast peanuts and coffee, expanding their reach.

Mill Street Caramel Corn reported receiving substantial economic benefits, including:

  • $12,000 Sales Increase
  • 10 Days Saved
  • $12,000 Capital Expenditures
  • 2 Jobs Created and Retained
  • $3,000 Cost Avoidance

$25,000 Total Economic Benefit with more to come!
