Transforming ideas into successful products is a daunting challenge. Penn State President Eric Barron’s Invent Penn State initiative is seeking to assist small businesses in the translation of early-stage innovations. The result of such efforts are product and service offerings that reach the marketplace and provide societal benefit.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is supporting this effort with an NSF I-Corps site grant, which provides funding for up to 30 startup teams to help them explore customer discovery. This funding also qualifies each team to be eligible to apply for $50,000 in funding from the NSF I-Corps National Teams to further develop their commercial opportunity.
