Food Waste RU (Reduction & Upcycling) Training Day & Tour

Join us for a half-day event focused on Pollution Prevention (P2) tools and best practices for the food and beverage manufacturing industry. The event will include presentations on reducing food and water waste, conserving energy, and exploring upcycling opportunities for food waste. Additionally, we’ll discuss important regulations for donating unused food to local food banks, composting centers, and upcycling into new products.

The morning training session will be followed by an in-person tour of Unique Snacks, one of Reading’s oldest pretzel bakeries 215 E Bellevue Ave, Reading, PA. 19605. Participants will see the company’s current and planned P2 practices in action.

Food manufacturing participants can also receive free customized follow-up pollution prevention technical assistance from PennTAP, including energy and food waste audits and access to Penn State student capstone project partnerships.

This event is funded by a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
