PennTAP is helping Pennsylvania manufacturers take meaningful steps toward reducing waste, conserving resources, and improving operational efficiency—all through free, virtual, one-on-one coaching.

These virtual coaching sessions offer tailored support in key focus areas affecting manufacturers across the commonwealth. Participants can select one of three specialized coaching tracks based on their facility’s unique needs:

  • Energy Cost & Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions
Advisors guide businesses through the process of baselining energy use, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and estimating GHG emissions to uncover practical steps toward energy and cost reduction.
  • Food & Water Waste
Designed for food and beverage manufacturers, this track helps businesses conduct in-house audits, identify sources of waste, and evaluate disposal methods to reduce costs and environmental impact.
  • Metal Manufacturing Water Conservation & Pollution Prevention
Targeted toward metal manufacturers, this track focuses on identifying water-intensive processes and exploring pollution prevention strategies to conserve water and improve waste management practices.

Each coaching track includes three, one-hour virtual sessions, scheduled at the manufacturer’s convenience over a three-month period. These sessions are interactive and personalized, allowing PennTAP’s technical advisors to help participants benchmark utility costs, set achievable sustainability goals, and develop implementation-ready strategies.

At the end of the coaching program, participants receive a customized summary of recommendations and referrals to relevant funding opportunities or partners to help bring their goals to life.

These virtual coaching sessions build on PennTAP’s successful community-based training model, which has included live webinars and in-person tours at Pennsylvania manufacturing facilities like Unique Snacks and Benton Foundry. With funding support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this initiative demonstrates PennTAP’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector through practical, pollution prevention strategies and sustainable growth.
