Lakshya Thinakaran is a second-year PhD student in Industrial Engineering at Penn State and a graduate intern with PennTAP, where she supports Pennsylvania manufacturers through energy and operational assessments. In her first year at PennTAP, she analyzed utility bills and developed a dashboard to rank top clients for RISE PA Grants, assisting with client assessments and evaluations. Recently, she interned with FedEx’s Regional Engineering team, leading a group of six interns to optimize load door operations and increase throughput. Earlier in her career, she worked with Caterpillar in transportation and logistics, driving automation projects and dock scheduling initiatives across India. She is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and has completed training in Lean Leadership.
