Alanna Colvin, MBA, C.E.M., EIT, is the Associate Director of Programming for PennTAP, working from the Corner LaunchBox in Penn State New Kensington. She provides strategic direction and oversight for the statewide network of advisors to ensure successful delivery and execution of PennTAPβs energy, innovation, and economic development services. She will also develop educational programming for Penn State and K-12 students, as well as identify, lead, and expand PennTAPβs capabilities overall.
In addition, she connects small businesses, industries, and organizations in the region with the resources of the University in order to advance their innovation and sustainability goals. She performs on-site industrial energy efficiency assessments, provides consultation on energy management systems, such as the 50001 Ready Program, and coordinates Building Re-Tuning (BRT) trainings and walk-throughs. Alanna can evaluate energy conservation opportunities as well as assist with preparing project-funding requests through utility rebates, the Small Business Advantage Grant Program, and the Rural Energy for America Program.
Prior to joining PennTAP, she worked in the nuclear power industry. She held roles as an electromagnetic compatibility test engineer and as a quality engineer. She has experience working in regulated industry under US Reg. Guides, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 programs, supporting audits, corrective actions programs, and causal analysis.
Alanna is a Certified Energy Manager and has obtained both a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership through Penn State Smeal College of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering also from Penn State.
