Nicholas Ritchie, MSc SEDV, P. Eng, PMP, is a technical advisor serving the Pittsburgh/SWPA region, working from the Corner Launchbox in Penn State New Kensington. He connects small to medium sized businesses, industries and organizations in SWPA with the resources of the university in order to advance their goals related to sustainability, innovation, economic development and education. He also provides direct assistance in the form of on-site energy efficiency and pollution prevention assessments, consultation on energy management systems (e.g. DOE’s 50001 ready program), grant application support (e.g. REAP, SBAG) and special project consulting.

Prior to joining PennTAP, Nicholas has worked in biotechnology, oil & gas, residential & industrial construction, and manufacturing in Canada and New Zealand. He has experience working with ANSI, API, ASHRAE, ASME, ASTM, AWS, BMBL6, CSA, ISO, NZS and other standards. Of note, he has managed the repair and expansion of 3 earthquake damaged wineries, the design and construction of a net-zero energy home and lead an engineering team in the design of a waste energy powered device that conserves water and the environment for the natural gas industry.

Nicholas is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), an APEGA certified Professional Engineer, and has obtained both a MSc in Sustainable Energy Development from the University of Calgary and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
