Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC)

DVIRC is an economic development organization focused on the Delaware Valley region’s manufacturing community. Their mission is to grow business value by providing direct services in consulting, executive network groups, and training and education. 

Duquesne Light Co. (DLC) 

For more than a century, DLC has been working around the clock to deliver a safe and reliable supply of electricity to nearly 600,000 customers in Allegheny and Beaver counties. 

Envinity 

Established in 2005, Envinity has been a leader in green design, construction, energy efficiency, HVAC and renewable solar energy. Global Building Network (GBN) 

The built environment accounts for a significant percentage of the world’s energy and resource use and is one of the top greenhouse gas emitters. In the developed world, buildings consumer over 70% of the electrical power generated and 40% of the carbon dioxide emissions from combustion. 

The rate at which these issues are being address needs to be drastically accelerated.  

The GBN is an initiative of Penn State and the United Nations Commission for Europe. It aims to advance building science, construction process, and building management in order to create an international framework that will make buildings more sustainable, more efficient, and healthier for people. 

Green Building Alliance (GBA)

GBA advances innovation in the built environment by empowering people to create environmentally, economically, and socially vibrant places. GBA is one of the oldest regional green building organizations in the United States and proudly serves Pittsburgh and the 26 counties of Western Pennsylvania, with stakeholders across the Mid-Atlantic, United States, and the world. 

The Innovation Partnership 

The Innovation Partnership is a consortium of economic development and business assistance organizations located throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Their goal is to help early-stage technology companies in Pennsylvania secure federal funding opportunities. 

Innovative Manufacturers’ Center (IMC)

IMC is dedicated to driving economic success and profitable growth for the 12 counties they serve and the entire state. Objective, expert advice and actionable solutions are available to small- and medium-sized manufacturers through IMC events and resources. 

Invent Penn State 

Invent Penn State leverages Penn State’s research, knowledge, and entrepreneurial spirit in collaboration with industry, entrepreneurs, and academia to develop products and services that will benefit Pennsylvanians and humankind. 

Manufacturer and Business Association (MBA)

The MBA, founded in 1905, is dedicated to helping employers face challenges by delivering services that lower the cost of doing business, ease the burden of compliance and increase productivity for its members.

The MBA accomplishes this mission by providing exclusive, valued-added services that can help businesses navigate ever-changing federal and state laws and can provide them with the training to take their workforce to the next level.

Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC)

MRC is a private, nonprofit corporation that helps small and midsized manufacturers increase their competitiveness by providing them with consulting, education, and strategic partnering. 

MANTEC

MANTEC is an economic development non-profit on a mission to improve South Central PA manufacturers’ top line, bottom line, and pipeline by providing a wide range of business advisory services, training and events, and career exploration programs.

Nexant

Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center (NEPIRC)

NEPIRC is a not-for-profit organization that provides world-class professional services exclusively to manufacturers throughout northeastern and northern Pennsylvania. 

Northwestern Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC)

The NWIRC enhances the competitiveness and growth of small- and medium-sized manufacturers in northwest Pennsylvania by working with clients to improve productivity and technological performance. 

PA Manufacturer’s Association (PMA)

Founded in 1909 by Bucks County industrialist Joseph Grundy, the PMA is the nonprofit statewide trade organization representing the manufacturing sector in Pennsylvania’s public policy process.

PREP is a statewide network of business assistance partners designed to help companies start, grow, and prosper. 

Penn State Center Pittsburgh 

Connects the Pittsburgh region with the University faculty, staff, and programs to support sustainable communities through research, local outreach, engaged scholarship, and educational opportunities.  

Penn State College of Engineering Learning Factory 

The Bernard M. Gordon Learning Factory is a hands-on facility for engineering students to use in conjunction with their courses, capstone design, and research projects. The Learning Factory provides modern design, prototyping, and manufacturing facilities, including machining, 3D printing, welding, metrology, and CAD/CAM. 

Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) 

ICDS is one of seven interdisciplinary research institutes within Penn State’s Office of the Senior Vice President for Research. ICDS brings researchers together to develop and apply innovative, high performance computation methods. 

Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE) 

IEE connects and supports interdisciplinary teams of researchers to solve some of the world’s most difficult energy and environmental challenges. 

Penn State Materials Research Institute

The Materials Research Institute provides leadership both at Penn State and in the materials community worldwide, coordinating materials-related activities, maintaining core and shared facilities, training students, and fostering collegial exchanges of expertise.

Pennsylvania College of Technology

Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED)

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)

They work as partners with individuals, organizations, governments, and businesses to prevent pollution and restore our natural resources. 

Pennsylvania Economic Development Association (PEDA) 

PEDA is the statewide association of local, state, corporate and non-profit economic development professionals. PEDA’s mission is to promote sound economic development policies, provide leading-edge economic development education and nurture an effective statewide economic development network to foster the economic growth of the Commonwealth. 

Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

PA SBDC’s mission is to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge needed to make smart decisions and prosper. 

Susquehanna Economic Development Association—Council of Governments (SEDA-COG)

SEDA-COG is a regional multi-county development agency which provides leadership, expertise, and services to communities, businesses, institutions, and residents. SEDA-COG seeks to enhance growth opportunities in an environmentally sensitive manner while retaining the region’s predominantly rural character. 

Sustainable Pittsburgh 

Through its years of engagement with businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits, Sustainable Pittsburgh has maintained a strong pulse on the region’s sustainability challenges and opportunities. From air and water quality to energy efficiency, recycling and waste management, to land use and transportation, workforce development, healthy people and economic prosperity, Sustainable Pittsburgh remains at the forefront of working with organizations to integrate more sustainable development for southwestern Pennsylvania.

Tech Council of Central PA (TCCP)

TCCP connects members & organizations to promote technology & fuel economic development in the Central PA region. 

U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) 

The EDA’s mission is to lead the federal economic development agenda by fostering innovation and competitiveness, to prepare American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy. 

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The EPA’s mission is to protect human health and the environment. 

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) 

The mission of the DOE is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental, and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions. 

West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF)

The WPPSEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that invests in the deployment of sustainable energy technologies that benefit West Penn Power ratepayers in Pennsylvania. WPPSEF investments are focused in three broad categories: 

  • Deployment of sustainable and clean energy technologies 
  • Deployment of energy efficiency and conservation technologies 
  • Facilitating economic development, environmental betterment, and public education as they relate to sustainable energy deployment in the WPP service region 

Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE) 

Following the 2007 Women’s Health and the Environment conference, a number of women were asked to volunteer their expertise to determine how to best educate and involve women, and the men who love them, about issues related to women’s health and the environment. Women across western Pennsylvania who had a common goal of making our region as strong and healthy as it can be joined this network, which is now known as WHE. 

Healthy Schools PA program is designed to empower parents, students, educators, staff and administrators to take an active role in creating healthy school environments. By providing tools, guides, and other resources, Healthy Schools PA acts as a bridge between communities and their schools, effectively creating an advocacy network capable of bringing about social and policy change throughout the school system.
