About Us

The Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP) at Penn State is a statewide technical assistance organization charged with supporting Pennsylvania businesses and anchor institutions — including manufacturers, municipalities, educational institutions, entrepreneurs, farmers, and economic development agencies.

Our statewide network of expert technical advisors focuses on helping Pennsylvania businesses through three primary areas of service: Energy and operational assessments, energy grants and rebates, and university engagement. We understand each and every client’s problems, needs, and areas for growth are unique, so we take a holistic approach in identifying the best course of action for us to embark on together.

As a department within the Penn State Office of Industrial Partnerships, we offer unique access to an abundance of resources from one of the premier universities in the country, including faculty expertise, research centers, state of the art facilities as well as students. Our team can also provide clients with connections to a rich network of government entities and private organizations.

Since our founding in 1965, we have delivered services and solutions to countless Pennsylvania businesses and professionals, creating a legacy of documented economic impact within the state and positive returns on investments to funding partners. In the past 10 years alone, we have worked with more than 2,000 organizations, who have in turn reported approximately $90 million in economic benefits and the creation or retention of more than 1,000 Pennsylvania jobs.
